The Dancer is an agile fighter, akin to the Thief that is Lass. By default, her speed (as Amy) is the fastest with the use of passive skills and boosters to aid her. Coupled with her ability to double jump makes her a very evasive character, if only while she is in the air. It also allows her to quickly traverse terrain that would otherwise take more than a few leaps to reach and gives her an excellent edge when dealing with jump stages.

Amy's skills are of two kinds across all her 4 classes, which are divided into a musical type aided by magical energies using her instrument weapon, or the fighter type which uses her instrument as the physical force and weapon. This provides her with a good variety of 6 skills of which some function as support, generally for herself and the team. Dancer's skills are revolved around, well, "Dance", attacking in style.

Dodge:
  • Type: Aerial Maneuver
  • Again for many melee combatants like Amy, while she is not ottoing or spamming aerial techniques, Dodge comes as an allowance for her to engage in regular ground combat.
  • Dancer has a slow evasive move in one mode, but none in the other, thus Dodge plays the compensating role in this. Slow recovery times after her combos and dive kick will often require Dodge to get her out of danger fast.
Inherent Techniques:
  • Chakram Throw (↓Z during a jump or double jump)
  • Amy throws a spinning chakram downwards
  • Dive Kick (Z after Chakram Throw)
  • The follow up attack which executes a high speed dive kick of the same trajectory.

Otto:
  • Both forms Dancer and Fighter deal the same damage for otto.
  • Despite the high swing, the attack registers much lower, thus it's easy to break quickly.
  • Sustainability: Hard
Notes:
  • Dancer mode attacks pack more power, but lacks evasion. Fighter mode attacks pack less power, but has evasion. Choose the right modes at the right times.
  • ^ An alternative is to switch modes immediately when a combo ends. Not only is the mode -change interrupt immediate, it also allows you to continue your attacking onslaught without waiting for Amy to recover her stance. Although this might gradually confuse players on which mode they are in if used too often in one sitting.
  • Dancer's skills (by default) are severely underwhelming. Most of them are dysfunctional when it comes to dungeons as they cannot connect well with monsters. With 2 of them being support skills, Amy lacks a lot of punch even if she had MP to throw around.
  • Amy can provide MP via taunting, but only in Dancer mode.
  • As I have not opened much of Amy's skill tree, I cannot provide verified alternatives to a dungeon skillset.

Skill Tree Setup:

Combo Attack: [Dancer] Combo Attack Lv1
While Lv2 adds 1 more hit, that attack will often miss due to the launching effect and knockback of the 2nd and 3rd hits. Lv1 works best by promptly ending the combo after the same 3rd hit, which you can follow up with a critical hit.

Dash Attack: [Dancer] Dash Attack Lv1
It's always about keeping short, so Lv1 suffices with 2 spins that allow you to break away quickly. There's really no point in spinning so much with Lv2 and opening yourself to a counterattack.

Critical: [Dancer] Critical Lv1
Due to how the combo attack works as mentioned above, one chance to strike is all you have, since you are catching a knocked-back target in the air. Lv1 does well to connect, but Lv2 has 2 hits and would quickly put the target out of reach for the 2nd hit.

Combo Attack: [Fighting] Combo Attack Lv2 / Lv3
I'm actually agreeable with Lv2 and Lv3. Lv2 does a lesser amount of damage per hit but has a shorter animation time in total. Lv3 does more damage with close-in advantage but drags out the duration with her fancy kicks.

Dash Attack: [Fighting] Dash Attack Lv1
The effect from this attack provides knockdown on the enemy, Lv1 simply provides a stun from it.

Use Combo: [Fighting] Use Combo
This is her only "evasive" move in mid-attack which is also an attack itself. However this attack does not count as an evade and can be countered if she doesn't hop past before an attack connects to her body.

Critical: [Fighting] Critical Lv1
Shorter attack, quicker execution

Double Attack: [Fighting] Double Attack Lv2
Lv1 has a long recovery time due to her shadowing animation, so Lv2 and the quick uppercut definitely makes the cut instead.

Special Skill 1: Buff Time Lv2
When switching back to Dancer mode (only), a 30-second defense buff is activated on all teammates. Everytime you switch back to Dancer mode before it ends, the buff is refreshed back to 30-seconds.

Special Skill 2: Increased Defense Lv3
Functions together with Buff Time. This skill increases the defense value provided by 10% along with the increased time.
  • At any time, Mode change can be used in mid-combo as an interrupt or in the air. However, take note that using mode change negates your double jump. So if you had only performed a single jump while changing, you cannot do a double.

Blessing: Blessing Lv3
Amy activates a special which nullifies negative effects on herself and fellow teammates. Effectively she can release teammates from Curse, Freeze and Petrify if she does so quickly, as Blessing has a long start-up time. Also, she can only release herself from Curse, as the other 2 statuses will disable her completely. If she is attacked before she channel the Blessing, the effect is lost and has to be redone.

Skill Recommends:

Dancer Skills
Tier 1:

Spinning Counter Lv1
  • Type: Close-In
  • Range: Short
  • Damage: Multi
  • Animation: Short
  • Amy performs a rising triple kick in the air, then slamming the enemy down with her chakrams.
  • The 3rd kick and chakram slam will often miss on regular enemies that can be knocked away, thanks to the unnecessarily high impact of this attack. If you've cornered your enemy however, it's more likely to work entirely.
Reverse Turn
  • Type: Projectile
  • Range: Short
  • Damage: Multi
  • Animation: Short
  • Amy performs a kick and throws a chakram projectile out.
  • Has almost no tactical use, low damage and no auxiliary effects to assist.
Triple Axel
  • Type: Close-In, Impact
  • Range: Short
  • Damage: Multi
  • Animation: Short
  • Amy performs a low triple spin and finishes with a impact kick.
  • While it does some pushing, its impact effect only extends to the one target Amy kicks first. As such, the rest of your enemies remaining standing, to your detriment.

Tier 2:

Ditzy Rush Lv3
  • Type: Linear, Close-In
  • Range: Long
  • Damage: Multi
  • Animation: Short
  • Amy flails wildly with her chakrams as she dashes clumsily ahead, falling into a spin at the end of her run.
  • During this attack, she can move in her desired direction before she falls.
Spin Combination Lv2 (Skill Key req.)
  • Type: Close-In
  • Range: Mid
  • Damage: Multi
  • Animation: Short
  • Amy rushes in with a spin kick and pivots on the ground attacking enemies that come rushing into her.
  • If her enemies get knocked away too far, there's no way to close-in on them once she starts spinning. Can be difficult to use.
Flash Dance (Skill Key req.)
  • Type: Close-In
  • Range: Mid
  • Damage: Multi
  • Animation: Short
  • Amy aggressively uses her kicks in a combo attack, dealing a series of impacting blows to the enemy.
  • Especially near the end of the combo, one of the high kicks has a chance of causing Amy to leap over the enemy instead.
  • Avoid using at point-blank, as her forward rush may skip over regular enemies.

Tier 3:

Grand Finale Lv2
  • Type: Pierce, Linear, Close-In
  • Range: Mid
  • Damage: Burst - Multi
  • Animation: Short
  • Amy dives through her enemies with a spinning kick, damaging anything in her flight across.
Beauty Mode (Skill Key req.)
  • Type: AoE: Small, Impact
  • Range: Short
  • Damage: Multi
  • Animation: Short
  • In a fancy display of dance, "hearts" gather around Amy and explode in a radial aura that blasts enemies away.
  • The gathering hearts do the damage in the first phase while drawing enemies in, the following explosion deals the impact of the attack and additional damage.
Psycho Crash Lv2 (Skill Key req.)
  • Type: Projectile, Pierce, Linear
  • Range: Long
  • Damage: Multi
  • Animation: Short
  • Amy gathers her strength into her chakram and tosses them across in mid air, piercing across enemies as it flies.
  • The chakrams do not fly straight, but takes a small arc downwards.
  • This skill is not useful for certain enemies, as the chakrams move too fast across and does not deal enough damage as it passes. Regular enemies will get dragged by the chakram and possibly take enough damage to kill.
  • [1] Enemies in contact with the Chakrani (which will be positioned behind Amy) during the delay phase will take rapid damage from it. Because of the height at which she jumps, it is difficult to deliberately position it to hit something directly behind her while planning her forward trajectory with the Chakrani.

Fighter Skills
Tier 1:

Shy Shy Punch Lv3
  • Type: Close-In
  • Range: Short
  • Damage: Multi
  • Animation: Short
  • Amy covers her face in shyness and punches very rapidly with the other. At the end of the combo she throws an uppercut.
  • You're able to edge back and forth during the skill.
Photo Shot
  • Type: Projectile, Stun, Pierce
  • Range: Mid
  • Damage: Nil
  • Animation: Short
  • Amy launches a magical ball that freezes in place any enemy it touches. Deals no damage.
  • Also works on bosses, but the response to attacks varies by monster to monster. Default freeze time of 3 seconds upon contact with the ball.

Tier 2:

Dance Fever
  • Type: Self, Allies
  • Range: Short
  • Damage: Nil
  • Animation: Short
  • Amy dances on a mini-set and provides an 8% attack buff to herself and allies within range for 30seconds.
  • The buff begins immediately once the skill is used, so a follow up skill can help Amy break out of the dance and into an attack.

Tier 3:

Loving You Lv2
  • Type: Self, Allies
  • Range: Short
  • Damage: Nil
  • Animation: Short
  • Amy dances with the power of a healing goddess that recovers 35% HP and provides increased regeneration for 15 seconds.
  • Like Dance Fever, the buff activates immediately upon skill use, and can be broken out of with another skill.

Tier 4:

Let's Dance
  • Type: AoE: Large
  • Range: Wide
  • Damage: Multi
  • Animation: Short
  • As Amy goes into her dance, enemies around her take large periodic damage. They do not suffer the status affliction, however.
  • The skill pretty much hits everything you can see in plain sight, except maybe those lurking on the extremes of the screen.
  • There is a slight delay before the first sign of damage begins, so timing is a little important here if you're expecting a run-in/running target.
